1. How do I verify my ShopeePay account? 

To verify your ShopeePay account and identity via the ShopeePay App, follow these steps: 
 
Step 1: Go to the Me tab, select Account and Security
Step 2: Tap Identity Verification
Step 3: Tick the Terms & Conditions box, and click on Next 
Step 4:  Click on Start Recording and follow the video instructions  
Step 5: Select IC Type 
Step 6: Upload images of your Identification Card
Step 7: Fill out Personal Information 
Step 8: Create ShopeePay Pin
Step 9: Confirm ShopeePay Pin
Step 10: Await Verification

You will receive a notification on the status of your application. You can verify your ShopeePay account and identity via the main Shopee app.
 
⚠️Note:
 
  • Provide clear images of your identification document and your face to expedite the verification process.
 
IC verification through the ShopeePay app usually takes 24 hours to process. Subject to ongoing volumes, some applications might take longer. Notifications regarding the verification outcome will be sent to your ShopeePay App. If your submission is rejected, you can try again according to the notification's guidance. For further assistance with verification, contact us via the channels at the bottom of the page.

  • Existing Premium users may continue at the RM4,999 wallet size, or may upgrade to RM30,000 by completing eKYC.

  • By verifying your ShopeePay account, you can fully leverage the platform’s capabilities and enjoy a seamless, secure, and enhanced digital payment experience.

  • Users with older mobile device operating systems may be unable to perform the latest e-KYC process and may be limited to the lower wallet limit. To access full benefits, please ensure your apps are updated to the minimum required versions (Shopee: 6.69.4; ShopeePay: 2.41.0).

3.  What is identity verification (e-KYC), and what do I need to do? 

To keep the platform more secure, we would require our users to verify their identities through our e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process.
  
To do so, please have your identification documents (NRIC for Malaysians and Passport for non-Malaysians) ready and ensure you are in a well-lit environment for clearer capturing of your identity.
  
4. How will I know if my identity verification is successful? 

You will be notified on the app via a notification. We will also send you a push notification once your application has been successfully verified, thus please ensure that your notifications are turned on.
  
5. Why is my application shown as Pending? 

Identity verification via e-KYC will usually generate immediate results. However, in certain scenarios, we would require more time to process the application, but it should not take longer than 2 working days.
  
6. What should I do if my identity verification is unsuccessful? 

If your identity verification was unsuccessful, you may resubmit your application after you receive the notification of failed verification. 
  
7. What are the reasons for unsuccessful identity verification? 
 
If your verification failed, this could be caused by several reasons:
 
  • Identification documents are unclear or unrecognizable. Please ensure that you are using the correct and original copy of the documents requested, that you are in a well-lit place, and that nothing is blocking your identification documents.
  • Facial recognition is unrecognisable or blocked. Please ensure nothing is blocking your face when you perform the liveness check and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.  
 
8. Can I continue where I left off if I dropped off halfway because of unpredictable circumstances?
 
If you drop off halfway, you cannot continue where you left off. You would need to restart the whole process. Please allocate at least 10 mins for the completion of the whole process and ensure that you have your identification documents on hand. 
 
9. What are the types of ID accepted? 

We only accept Malaysian identity cards (MyKad) or passports. No other types of identification cards will be accepted.
  
10. Why am I getting this error message informing me that my IC number is already linked to a verified ShopeePay account?
