[Overseas Transfer] Overseas Transfer - Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)

1. What is MTCN?

MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number) is a 10-digit reference number generated by the Western Union system after the completion of the Overseas Transfer send transaction via the Shopee App. MTCN will be available via:

Shopee App after every successful Overseas Transfer send transaction.
The receipt is issued (optional to print) after a successful Overseas Transfer send transaction.
The receipt (optional to reprint by the Sender) under Transaction History after Overseas Transfer transaction on the Shopee App.

For the beneficiary to collect cash at any Western Union agent location (except Malaysia), the MTCN must be sent to the beneficiary together with the received amount and the sender’s full name as per identity card (spacing, sequence, and spelling must be the same as the information keyed in by the Sender).

2. What can I do if I forget my 10-digit MTCN?

You (Sender) may retrieve the 10-digit MTCN via any of the options below:

Step 1: Log in to the Shopee App
Step 2: Click on the ShopeePay e-wallet button on the Shopee homepage

Step 3: Scroll down to view Transaction History

Step 4: Click on the Western Union transaction you wish to pull up

Step 5: Scroll down to view the 10-digit MTCN

3. What can I do if my beneficiary has been informed by a Western Union agent that the MTCN is not available?

You (Sender) are required to call Western Union toll toll-free helpline at 1800-81-3399 to reactivate the MTCN.
