[ShopeePay] Google Pay API Payment FAQ

1. What is Google Pay?

Google Pay (GPay) is part of the Google Wallet® app, which works like a digital wallet on your phone. ShopeePay has partnered with GPay to provide an innovative online checkout experience for users.

2. How to use ShopeePay via GPay in Malaysia?

To use your ShopeePay e-wallet via GPay, you first need to link your ShopeePay account to Google Play in your Shopee/ShopeePay app through an Android device.

From the ShopeePay App

Step 1: Click on View All

Step 2: Click on Link to Google Play

Step 3: Click on Continue

Step 4: Click on I Agree

Step 5: Click on Next

Step 6: Successfully linked to Google Play

From Google Play Store

Step 1: Click on your Profile Icon

Step 2: Click on Payments and subscriptions

Step 3: Click on Payment methods

Step 4: Click on Add ShopeePay

Step 5: Click on Continue

Step 6: Click on I Agree

Step 7: Click on Next

Step 8: Successfully linked to ShopeePay

Once set up, you can check out using your ShopeePay e-wallet through the GPay button on your Android phone at the merchant’s online transaction page.

3. How to activate and link my ShopeePay account to GPay?

Currently, this GPay feature is only available on Google Chrome Browser. If you're using ShopeePay as a payment method for GPay, here’s how it works:

First-Time Payment with ShopeePay

When you use GPay for the first time on a device, you'll need to go through a quick setup process called Device Binding to link your device securely. Here’s what happens:

Step 1: Select GPay as your payment method at the checkout
Step 2: Click on Continue

Step 3: Click on Continue and Pay

Step 4: Enter your ShopeePay PIN when you are redirected to the ShopeePay page

Step 5: Verify your Identity with Google via Biometrics (fingerprint/face ID)
Step 6: Successful Payment

Making Subsequent Payments

Once you've linked your ShopeePay account, future payments will be much faster:

Step 1: Select GPay as your payment method at the checkout

Step 2: Click on Continue

Step 3: Verify your Identity with Google via Biometrics (fingerprint/face ID)

Step 4: Successful Payment

This setup makes payments quick, secure, and hassle-free!

4. When will ShopeePay go live on GPay?

As of March 5, 2025, GPay has officially accepted ShopeePay e-wallet as one of its payment methods. This integration allows ShopeePay users to seamlessly make payments using the funds in their ShopeePay e-wallet, enabling quick and secure transactions on a wide selection of online merchants that accept GPay.
