7. Who is eligible to purchase Zurich Critical Illness Insurance?
All Shopee and ShopeePay users aged between 18 and 60 years old who are Malaysian citizens with a valid NRIC are eligible to purchase this product, subject to meeting Zurich Life’s insurance product eligibility requirements.

8. How long is the coverage period?
Each policy provides 1-year coverage and renews automatically every year unless the Auto-Renewal function is disabled. It is renewable yearly up to the Life Assured turning 70 years old at last birthday.

9. When will the coverage start?

Your coverage will begin the next day after you successfully purchase Zurich Critical Illness Insurance.

10. What happens if I want to cancel my coverage?
You may cancel your policy by giving advance notice to the insurer.

  • Before and during the Cooling-off period (15 days from policy effective date): Full refund of premium paid.
  • After the Cooling-off period: You may still cancel, but the refund (if any) will follow the refund schedule in the Product Disclosure Sheet.

11. What is a Cooling-off period?
Cooling-off Period refers to the first 15 days from the policy effective date (upon purchase only and not applicable at renewal), where you may review and cancel the coverage with a full refund of the premium paid.

12. Is Zurich Critical Illness Insurance a single-claim policy?
Yes. This policy is designed to provide coverage for the first occurrence of a covered Critical Illness. After completion of payment of the CI Income benefit following an approved Critical Illness claim, the policy will terminate, and no further Critical Illness claims will be payable under the same policy.

13. When will CI Income be paid?
The CI Income payment is payable upon survival of the Life Assured for a maximum duration of 3 consecutive months. The first CI Income payment will be made upon approval of your claim. Each subsequent CI payment will be made on the corresponding date of each month following the approval of the claim date. CI Income payments will cease to be payable upon the death of the Life Assured.

14. When does my coverage end?
Your policy will terminate on the earliest of the following events:
  • On the death of the Life Assured;
  • Upon the full payment of the claim of CI Income benefit;
  • The policy becomes lapsed, is cancelled, or is not renewed;
  • We do not receive the premium within the 31-day grace period;
  • At the end of the policy year, following the Life Assured attaining 71 years old;
  • Up to the end of the certificate year upon termination of the master policy; or
  • Any other event that leads to a termination, as stated in this policy, such as providing inaccurate information, submitting a fraudulent claim, or if required under the laws or regulations of Malaysia.

To be clear, upon any of these events, your policy will not be auto-renewed. Termination of the policy will have no effect on any claim arising prior to such termination.

15. Does my coverage end under the Comprehensive Plan after an Early-Stage Illness payout?
No. Under the Comprehensive Plan, your coverage will continue after an approved Early-Stage Illness payout. However:
  • Only one Early-Stage Illness claim is allowed under the policy;
  • The amount paid for the Early-Stage Illness claim will reduce the remaining Critical Illness sum assured correspondingly; and
  • Coverage for future Early-Stage Illness claims will cease after the payout.

Example: If your selected plan provides RM100,000 Critical Illness coverage and you receive RM50,000 for an Early-Stage Illness claim, your remaining Critical Illness coverage will be reduced to RM50,000.

16. Will I receive the CI Income benefit if I claim for an Early-Stage Illness under the Comprehensive Plan?
No. The CI Income benefit is only payable upon diagnosis of a covered Critical Illness. Early-Stage Illness claims do not qualify for CI Income payments.

17. Can I renew or repurchase the policy after I have already claimed a Critical Illness benefit?
Once a qualifying Critical Illness claim has been paid and the policy terminates, coverage under that policy will end. You will no longer be able to repurchase the policy.

18. Will premiums increase as I get older?
Your renewal premium will be based on your age (last birthday), sex, smoker status, selected plan option at the time of renewal, and may increase as you get older. Premium rates are also not guaranteed and may be revised by Zurich upon renewal. Please ensure you have reviewed the Product Disclosure Sheet (see Q1), which details premium rates for both the Basic and Comprehensive Plans, before purchasing.

19. What do I need to do if there are changes to my contact/personal details?
Kindly inform Zurich of any changes in your contact details/life profile that would affect your risk profile. Please reach out to Zurich’s customer service at
1-300-888-622 (Call Centre) or callcentre@zurich.com.my (E-mail).
