1. What type of car insurance takaful is provided by the insurer/takaful operator?

The car insurance/takaful provided by our insurer/takaful operator is a private car comprehensive insurance/takaful which covers the following:

(a) Loss or Damage to your own vehicle due to accident, fire, or theft;

(b) Third Party Bodily Injury and Death; and

(c) Third Party Property Loss or Damage.

2. Does the insurance/takaful operator provide Third Party Cover?

No, only comprehensive coverage is currently provided. However, comprehensive coverage also covers against the legal liability to a third party for death or bodily injury, and loss or damage to third party property caused by or arising out of the use of your vehicle.

 

3. Who can apply to renew car insurance/takaful via the Shopee platform?

Any Shopee user with an expiring car insurance/takaful can renew his/her car insurance/takaful with the relevant insurer/takaful operator via the Shopee platform.

 

For Allianz Comprehensive Car Insurance

- The policyholder has to be between 16-80 years old.

- Users can renew their car insurance as early as 60 days before the expiration date, and are not permitted to renew via the Shopee platform after expiry date.


For Ikhlas Private Car Comprehensive Plus Takaful
- The policyholder has to be between 16-80 years old.
- Users can renew their car insurance as early as 60 days before the expiration date, and up to 14 days after the expiration date. and up to 
14 days after the expiration date.

For Zurich Z-Driver & Z-Driver Takaful

- The policyholder/participant has to be between 17-80 years old.

- Users can renew their car insurance/takaful as early as 60 days before and up to 60 days after the expiration date.

 

4. What types of vehicles are covered under the Comprehensive Car Insurance/Takaful?

Privately used vehicles that are registered with Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ), and used within Malaysia only are covered provided that:

 

For Allianz Comprehensive Car Insurance - the privately used vehicles which are below 20 years old from its manufacturing date.

 

For Ikhlas Private Car Comprehensive Plus Takaful - the privately used vehicles which are below 20 years old from its manufacturing date.

For Zurich Z-Driver & Z-Driver Takaful 
- the privately used vehicles which are below 30 years old from its manufacturing date.

 

5. Are there car takaful options on the Shopee platform?

Yes, there are two options: 

  • Z-Driver Takaful by Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad

  • Ikhlas Private Car Comprehensive Plus Takaful by Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad

 

6. What is the car insurance/takaful coverage period?

The car insurance/takaful coverage period provided by the insurance/takaful operator is for 12 months.

 

7. What is the Rahmah Insurance initiative in Allianz Comprehensive Car Insurance?

Rahmah Insurance initiative is introduced by the Government of Malaysia to provide affordable insurance plans for all Malaysians. 

In support of the Rahmah Insurance initiative, Allianz Malaysia is expanding its Allianz Comprehensive Car Insurance benefits to include the following benefits for new and eligible policyholders starting from 15 September 2023 until further notice: 

(a) Death and Permanent Disablement Benefit up to RM5,000, 

(b) Hospital Income up to RM3,000, and 

(c) Compassionate Flood Coverage up to RM3,000.

Policyholders fulfilling both of the criteria below will automatically receive the expanded benefits as part of Allianz Rahmah Insurance Initiative at no additional cost:

(a) Engine capacity of insured car is 1500CC and below, and

(b) Sum Insured is RM30,000 and below.
