[ShopeePay] Tap Secure FAQ

⚠️ Note:
 
  • Tap Secure will officially go live on 17 April 2025, while Device Binding is available on the ShopeePay App starting 19 March 2025. Make sure to link your device ahead of time to enjoy a seamless and secure transaction experience when Tap Secure launches!
 
1. What is Tap Secure and how does it work? 

Tap secure is a more secure method to authenticate transactions that have been performed. This feature is available in the ShopeePay app. Tap secure pairs your device with your ShopeePay account, offering an extra layer of security as ShopeePay transactions can only be authorised on your registered device. 
 
2. How do I register for Tap Secure? 

No registration or activation is required for Tap Secure, however please ensure that you have linked your secure device allowing you to approve transactions.
 
3. How do I link my device for secure device binding? 

To link your device, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the Me tab on the ShopeePay App
Step 2: Click on Tap Secure OR;
Step 3: Click on Link Device
Step 4: Click on Link Now
Step 5: Enter your 6-Digit ShopeePay PIN
Step 6: Click on Start Facial Verification 
Step 7: Click on OK
 
4. How do I authorise my transactions with Tap Secure? 

To authorise your transaction, please ensure you have linked your device to approve transactions via Tap Secure. Once that is performed, follow the steps below to approve the transaction.

 Step 1: Click on Pay Now 
Step 2: Enter your 6-Digit ShopeePay PIN
Step 3: Click on the Notification  
Step 4: Click on Approve 
Step 5: Click on I Have Verified

5. How much time do I have to approve my transaction? 

Once the transaction is initiated, you will receive a notification on your linked device to approve or reject the transaction. This needs to be performed within 120 seconds (2 minutes). Failure to do so will result in the transaction being canceled and the amount will not be deducted from your ShopeePay wallet balance.
 
6. Why am I not receiving notifications to authorize my transactions? 

Please ensure that you have enabled push notifications for your ShopeePay app
 
7. What do I do if I change phones and how to link my Tap Secure to my new device? 

To unlink your old device that is registered as the secure device to approve transactions via Tap Secure, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Click on Link Device under the Me tab on the ShopeePay App 
Step 2: Click on Unlink Device
Step 3: Click on Confirm
