Hi, how can we help?

ShopeePay Mobile Application Security Features

English | Bahasa Malaysia

Recent Enhancements to Mobile Application Security

We have recently enhanced our mobile application to prevent scammers from attempting to access customers' ShopeePay accounts.

Our security enhancements restrict access to ShopeePay accounts when it detects log-in attempts from mobile devices that may be compromised by malware or have security vulnerabilities. This includes:

(a) Devices with known malware applications or that are jailbroken/rooted
(b) Devices with high-risk apps or insecure permission settings
(c) Devices with unauthorized screen-sharing enabled

To safeguard your ShopeePay accounts and funds, you will need to remove any malicious or high-risk applications, disable risky permission settings, or stop screen-sharing before regaining access to ShopeePay.

Rest assured that our security features are limited to detecting security threats, no other data is collected.

Additional Details on Jailbroken/Rooted Devices

Jailbreaking (on Apple devices) and rooting (on Android devices) refer to modifying a device to bypass manufacturer-imposed software restrictions. This allows users to install applications from sources outside the official app stores.

Device manufacturers impose these restrictions to ensure that only verified, secure, and legal software is used. Jailbreaking or rooting a device to install unofficial applications can:

(a) Expose the device to malicious apps that may compromise personal data
(b) Void the device warranty
(c) Cause system instability or malfunctions
(d) Weaken overall security protections

You may either perform a factory reset on your device or access the ShopeePay services on another device that has not been jailbroken or rooted.

Additional Details on Malware

Malware, short for malicious software, refers to any program designed to disrupt operations, steal sensitive information, or gain unauthorized access to a device, including smartphones.

When a malicious app is installed, scammers can remotely control your device, potentially stealing your credentials. This access may allow them to log in to your ShopeePay account and conduct unauthorized transactions without your knowledge.
