[ShopeePay] What is Kill Switch?

The Kill Switch is a security feature that will be introduced starting from 31 December 2024, it is a user-managed feature that allows you to promptly deactivate your ShopeePay wallet during emergencies, such as losing your phone or if you suspect unauthorised access.

When the Kill Switch is activated, these functions will be disabled:

ShopeePay Wallet Services

ShopeePay Account Services

Merchant Payments

· Top up of ShopeePay balance including Auto Top Up

· Transfer of funds

· Sending or receiving of ShopeePay Ang Bao

· PIN & Biometrics related functions such as setting up and changing PIN

· Submitting eKYC

· All modes of payments via ShopeePay and SPayLater including Linked Payment Methods

· Changing of payment method priority for Sequential Payment

To activate the Kill Switch, you may follow these steps below:

Step 1: Click on the Settings ⚙ icon

Step 2: Select Kill Switch

Step 3: Select a Reason

Step 4: Click on Proceed

Step 5: Click on Confirm

To deactivate the Kill Switch, please refer to the steps below:

Step 1: Click on the Settings ⚙ icon
Step 2: Select Kill Switch
Step 3: Select Deactivate Kill Switch
Step 4: Submit verification/documentation

⚠️ Note:

If you have a ShopeePay refund that is pending when the Kill Switch is activated, this will not be affected. The refund will be processed as per usual as will be refunded back to your ShopeePay balance.
