1. What is the Overseas Transfer service via the Shopee App?

Overseas Transfer service is a Money Transfer service offered by Western Union that allows individual ShopeePay Users to send money to their beneficiaries anywhere in the world, other than within Malaysia.

2. When I send money with ShopeePay using the Overseas Transfer service, what are the methods available for my beneficiary to receive the transferred funds?

You may choose for your beneficiary to receive the transferred funds via

Cash pickup at any Western Union agent location
Credit into their Bank Account; or
Credit into their Western Union-supported e-wallet.

3. Who can use the Overseas Transfer service?

This service is ONLY available for Premium ShopeePay Users who are 18 years and older, who wish to send money to other individuals overseas. It is not available for individuals who wish to send money to business entities or on behalf of another sender.

Step 1: Click on ShopeePay under the Me tab

Step 2: Click Here

Step 3: Click Next

Step 4: Insert IC Information and click Confirm

Step 5: Fill up information and click Confirm

Step 6: Check your information and click Confirm

Step 7: Tap OK while your application will be under review

Step 8: Once approved, you will see IC Verification Successful

Step 9: You will then be able to access the Overseas Transfer by clicking on the Overseas Transfer icon

4. What are the benefits of using the Overseas Transfer service via the Shopee App?

Sending money from ShopeePay e-wallet: You may send money to over 200 countries with a Western Union presence to any individual who is not sanctioned or blacklisted.
Receiving money with ShopeePay e-wallet: Funds received are treated as ShopeePay e-wallet balance where you may spend on the Shopee marketplace or spend offline via DuitNow QR (please refer to this link for more info).

5. How can I change the pickup destination after I have successfully completed the transaction?

You are advised to ensure that all details of the transaction are accurate upon payment confirmation. Should you require changes to the transaction, you are advised to contact Western Union directly via 1800-91-3399.

6. What is the daily send transaction limit for Western Union via the Shopee App?

The maximum daily send transaction limit is RM4,999.00 per day for verified ShopeePay Users. The ShopeePay e-wallet daily transaction limit includes the Overseas Transfer service and any other transactions using ShopeePay. The minimum amount for a Western Union transaction is RM 1.00. 7. How much is the transfer fee applied on every Overseas Transfer send transaction via the Shopee App?

The service fee varies based on the amount sent, the receiving method, and the destination/ receiving country (Please refer to the Money Transfer Fee table).

8. What are the operating hours for Western Union toll-free helpline 1800-81-3399?

The Western Union toll-free helpline 1800-81-3399 is available daily from 8 am to 8 pm. You may also contact the ShopeePay helpline for issues relating to the Overseas Transfer service via chat or call and our Customer Support agent will reach out to you shortly.

9. Can I use any or all the funds in my ShopeePay e-wallet for the Overseas Transfer service?

You may only utilize the Transferable Balance portion of your ShopeePay e-wallet to perform Overseas Transfer transactions. ShopeePay's Transferable Balance includes Top-ups from a Debit card, Online Banking and DuitNow transfers. For more info on ShopeePay transferable balance, please refer to this link.

10. How many recipients can I send money to?

Malaysians are allowed to make remittance transactions to 20 unique recipients per calendar year. Non-Malaysians are allowed to make remittance transactions to 6 unique recipients per calendar year, and only back to their home country.

11. What type of transaction can be done through the Shopee App using the Overseas Transfer service?

(i) Sending money from ShopeePay e-wallet - Send money from ShopeePay e-wallet to a recipient in another country. You may choose for your beneficiary to receive the transferred funds via:

Cash pickup at any Western Union agent location
Credit into their Bank Account; or
Credit into their Western Union-supported e-wallet.

(ii) Receiving money with ShopeePay e-wallet - Receive money from a sender from another country into your ShopeePay e-wallet via the 10-digit MTCN generated during the transfer.
