Part-time job scams are scams where perpetrators pose as Shopee staff or Shopee-affiliated parties. They use SMSes, WhatsApp messages, or social media to promote part-time jobs or commission-based roles.
What’s the modus operandi of part-time job scams?
Victims are encouraged to make purchases at certain shops with promises that the amount will be refunded with the commission. Initially, they may be refunded as a way for the scammer to gain the victims’ trust.
Scammers would also pretend to be real users, and show forged proof of refund and commission payment to deceive victims further.
However, in the end, victims won’t be refunded when they purchase more expensive items, leading to a financial loss.
