[ShopeeFood Merchant] What items are prohibited for sale on ShopeeFood?

Items that are not allowed to be sold on ShopeeFood include food & beverages that are unusual / non-consumable by the public based on Shopee's considerations and policies.

 

List of prohibited items on ShopeeFood, including, but are not limited to:

#

PROHIBITED NON-FOOD ITEMS

1

Food and/or beverages that contain domesticated, potentially virus transmitting and/or endangered animal meat

2

Noxious food and/or beverages

3

Unpasteurised dairy products

4

Wild mushrooms

5

Food and/or beverages that contain any form of prescription medicines or herbal medicines, unless 

Shopee's prior written approval has been obtained.

6

Food and/or beverages that contain any medicinal claims

7

Food and/or beverages with names containing inappropriate content

8

Alcohol beverages, unless Shopee’s prior written approval has been obtained

9

Any other food and/or beverages that are, or that contain components that are: 

1. illegal or restricted in Malaysia or which otherwise encourages illegal or restricted activities

2. hazardous to human health

3. determined by any governmental or regulatory authority to pose a potential health or safety risk to the consumers

Any other items that are not considered as food and/or beverages and cannot be consumed

Any other items that violate ShopeeFood's business model such as: 

1. raw materials, including, but not limited to, unmilled rice

2.  items with excessive packaging or weight, including, but not limited to, gallons of mineral water

Note:

1. All items sold by merchants must comply with the regulations set by Malaysia’s Food Safety and Quality Division.

2. The sale of alcohol is not allowed on the ShopeeFood platform without a valid license which must be submitted to, and approved by, ShopeeFood.

3. The sale of medicines is strictly prohibited on the ShopeeFood platform without a valid license which must be submitted to, and approved by, ShopeeFood.

4. The sale of medicines is strictly prohibited on the ShopeeFood platform without a valid license which must be submitted to, and approved by, ShopeeFood. 

 

It is important to note that not all Medicinal Products registered with NPRA can be listed for sale on Shopee. Only the following classifications of registered pharmaceutical products may be listed for sale:

 

          X - Over-the-Counter Medicines 

          T - Natural Products / Traditional Medicines 

          N - Health Supplements 

 

5. The sale of medical devices is strictly prohibited on the ShopeeFood platform without a valid license issued pursuant to the Medical Devices Act 2012 ("Act") which must be submitted to ShopeeFood. 

 

ShopeeFood may reject the listing of medical devices at its discretion. Pursuant to the Act and the direction from the Malaysia Ministry of Health ("MOH"), all medical devices sold in Malaysia are required to be registered with the Medical Device Authority under MOH.

 

Merchants found selling these prohibited items, may incur the following actions including but not limited to:

 

  1. Deleting the listing;
  2. Placing limits on the merchant's account or its account privileges;
  3. Suspension and/or termination of the merchant's account; and/or
  4. Legal actions against the merchant
